The quality of image reporting is dependent on many factors and conditions should be optimised if high quality is to be maintained. Robust methods of communication of radiological reports must be in place The current high workload of clinical radiologists represents a significant issue of risk and this needs to be addressed. Errors of perception are four times more frequent than cognition errors where a feature, although appreciated, was interpreted incorrectly. The clinical radiologist should, therefore:
maintain the currency of his/her knowledge; maintain attention to image review standards, e.g. assessment of review areas; regularly reflect upon the quality of their work through formal and informal audit; ensure accurate communication of results either by regular review of report transcription or by signing-off each report.

GMC compliance is ensured for clinicians involved in the project, the training of clinicians is checked to make sure they are accredited by an appropriate professional organisation and have the necessary level of skills and experience. CRB checks for all staff is mandatory.
